Our commitment to making a difference

For more than 30 years, we have been covering South Africans, giving them peace of mind that their home and valuables are in good hands. At the same time, we have seen the growing need for companies to support communities, especially those near or in which they operate. As such, we have developed our CSI strategy to contribute towards the social development of the Diepsloot community. This strategy is focused on enhancing the lives of the people in the community through food provision, skills development and education. Our Food Security Programme is one of the numerous initiatives we support. And since it’s Youth Month, we are honoured to be playing a pivotal role in youth development as well.

We have offered our support to The Food Security Programme by giving a grant to support the twelve established grow zones and their associated creches. The kids and the community need nourishment to grow and to learn, and as such, we have added another three grow zones linked to three new creches in the area. Food security is one of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and we have aligned with their goals to make this happen in the Diepsloot community.

Next on our list of partners is the OLICO foundation which supports the growth of their Maths clubs in Diepsloot. The plan is to double the number of clubs from 25 to 50. Here, we are working directly with 600 Maths Club learners in 2019, as well as an additional 140 learners once we have trained other community partner organisations to co-ordinate our efforts.

Similar to the OLICO Programme, we have the LEAP grant, which funds students in preparing for their final matric exams. Our grant helps to facilitate study workshops, provide exam paper videos, mobile whiteboards and a mobile science lab. LEAP focuses on Maths and Science subjects which have been identified to be the foundation of some of today’s most sought-after professions.

Last, but not least is the Diepsloot Foundation, whose grant supports the continuation of the ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) programme and the accredited skills training courses with the FP&M SETA. ABET is a non-governmental organisation that accredits post-secondary education programmes in applied and natural science, computing and engineering technology. Our hope and responsibility is to enrich the lives of willing and talented community members by upskilling them with tech-based training.

As the community continues to grow, it is our hope that we can create success stories that will inspire hope and change. Our vision is to create a legacy that will motivate generations to come and our mission is to facilitate the process of transformation while keeping the community fed and happy.
