Leaving school and entering the working world can be daunting for many matriculants. In honour of Nelson Mandela Day, Auto & General employees facilitated a Career Day at Diepsloot Combined Secondary School in Diepsloot, Johannesburg, to help Grade 11 and 12 learners make a more informed decision about their futures.

The aim of the Career Day was to expose these learners to an array of career options available to them once they leave high school, as well as how they can go about accessing bursaries or scholarships offered by higher education institutions.

The students listened attentively as Auto & General employees spoke with passion and enthusiasm about how they got to where they are today and how tertiary education played a critical role in their success. They also had a chance to engage with tertiary institutions and employment specialists for more information on their areas of interest.

Nelson Mandela once said that education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. This was the message that Auto & General employees shared with the over 250 learners at the Career Day, and one which we hope will serve them throughout their lives.
