R50 000 donation for the cape spca

press-releases

March 3, 2015

Over the last few weeks, terrible fires have ravaged the Cape Peninsula leaving over 5000 hectares of land in ashes.

The fire broke out in the Muizenberg Mountains on Sunday the 1st March, and fuelled by a south easterly wind, spread at a rapid pace to the Noordhoek, Tokai and Hout Bay areas. At least 13 homes were affected, three of them completely razed to the ground.

And while the extent of the effect on the wildlife in the region is not yet known, many are anticipating the worst. As the fires are put out in certain areas, operations can begin to rescue, treat and rehabilitate injured animals.

There has been an overwhelming amount of support from the public and millions of rands have already been raised to assist firefighters' efforts to win the battle against the blaze. We, wanting to join this fight, have donated R50 000 to the Cape SPCA to assist them with their fire rescue efforts.

Our thoughts go out to all those affected by the fires, and to the brave people assisting them. Stay strong & stay safe.
