Get Covered with Third Party Insurance

Our Third Party Only Car Insurance – also known as Third Party Insurance – is a low-level policy that covers you for the loss or damage caused to someone else’s vehicle or property in an accident. These claims can encompass damage to belongings in the other driver’s car, such as cellphones and laptops.

This insurance provides the minimum level of protection. Keep in mind that any loss or damage to your vehicle will not be covered by Third Party Insurance. It may be ideal for car owners who can afford to pay for repairs and only need to worry about insuring against loss or damage to third parties.

Third party liability cover

Third Party Liability Insurance protects you from Third-Party claims. If you cause an accident, the third party may claim for the losses and damages they suffer. You, the policyholder, would be referred to as the first party, and the second party is your insurance company, which is responsible for settling the claim.

Third Party Car Insurance does not cover your losses or damages. In the event of an accident resulting from your fault, you would be required to pay for the repairs to your car out of your own pocket. If the accident was not your fault, you may be able to file a claim against the other driver. They will be the first party in that case, and you will be the third.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Comprehensive and Third-Party Insurance?

The main difference between the two is the level of coverage they offer. Comprehensive cover provides the widest range of cover, including:
- Car accidents and collisions, for both your vehicle and the third party’s vehicle, regardless of who is at fault.
- Theft, hijacking and vandalism.
- Damage from the elements, like hail or storms.
- Fire damage.
Third-Party Only Insurance provides cover for damages for injuries caused by the policyholder to a third-party’s vehicle or property. It does not provide cover for your own vehicle.

How does a Third-Party Insurance claim work?

You must report the event to your insurer and provide the necessary details and documentation. Submit supporting documentation, including a police report, if relevant. The insurer will investigate the claim, determine liability, and compensate the third party for their damages or injuries, excluding coverage for your own vehicle.

Who is considered the third party?

The third-party refers to a person other than the policyholder and the insurer. It typically refers to individuals, property owners, or parties involved in a covered event or accident for which the policyholder may be liable.

When do I need third-party car insurance?

It’s advisable to get Third-Party Insurance when you have an older or low-value vehicle and a limited budget.
