Referral Campaign


Auto & General will be giving away a R1 000 Woolworths voucher for every three successful referrals during this campaign. A successful referral is when each of the three friends that have been referred to Auto & General have received an insurance quote. A referrer can earn up to R5 000 by referring up to 15 friends who each receive a quotation.

The promoter of the campaign is Auto & General Insurance Company Limited, herein after referred to as “Auto & General” (Registration number:1998/004804/06), an authorised insurer and financial services provider (FSP: 16354), whose registered office is at Auto & General Park, 1 Telesure Lane, Riverglen, Dainfern, 2191.



1.  The campaign commences on 01 October 2021 and ends 28 February 2022. The campaign can be paused, stopped or extended at any time at the discretion of Auto & General without without notice.



2.  The campaign is open to-

2.1  Permanent residents and citizens of South Africa over the age of 18 years in possession of a valid South African Identity Document; and

2.2  people who are existing or not existing Auto & General customers; and who have

2.3  submitted their referrals via the online Auto & General portal that they accessed through a paid social advert on Facebook or through a dedicated advert appearing on the Auto & General website.



3.  The campaign is not open to-

3.1  Directors, members, partners, agents, employees or consultants of Auto & General and/ or any of their associated or affiliated companies and/or agencies or any supplier of goods or services in connection with a campaign; and

3.2  the spouse, life partner, business partner or associate, or the natural or adopted parent, child or sibling, of any person specified in the above.


4.  To enter the campaign-

4.1  Participants must click on the advert served to them on social media or the Auto & General website; and then

4.2  submit their details to log into the Auto & General dashboard, using an OTP sent to the cell phone number which they provide; and then

4.3  click on the option to refer friends and provide the information of these individuals for Auto & General to contact for an insurance quotation.

5.  A successful entry-

5.1  To qualify for the R1 000 referral fee the entrant must submit the correct details of three friends and/or family through the dashboard; and

5.2  the entrant will receive a R1 000 shopping voucher when all three referrals have successfully received their insurance quote from Auto & General through the consultant that contacts them via the contact details provided by the entrant.

6.  The people referred by the participant must be eligible to receive a quote for insurance from Auto & General and must undergo the quoting process and receive a quote in order for the participant to qualify for the prize.


7.  A person must successfully refer three friends to receive quotations from Auto & General to qualify for the R1 000 prize.

8.  A person may refer up to 15 people and may earn up to R5 000 in total.


9.  The vouchers are valued at R1 000 (one thousand Rand) each and are valid at Woolworths stores, but not at Woolworths shops at Engen petrol stations.

10. Vouchers cannot be redeemed at Woolworths shops at Engen petrol stations.



11.  The voucher/s can be redeemed at any Woolworths store, but not at Woolworths shops at Engen petrol stations.

12.  A referral is also only successful if it has been submitted through the correct channels, which in this case is through the Auto & General online portal that is accessible through a Facebook advert or an advert on the Auto & General website, from which the details submitted enables our call centre to contact the individual being referred or via any other Auto & General specified channel of communication. 

13.  The voucher is not transferable or exchangeable.    

14.  You must possess whatever documents and permissions that may be required in order to accept and use a voucher and these documents and permissions must remain valid in such minimum form and for such minimum period after the voucher date as may be required by the relevant authorities. Additionally, these documents and permissions are your responsibility to obtain at your own cost.

15.  Auto & General may need you to provide additional information and documentation as we may reasonably require in order to process, confirm and facilitate your acceptance and/or use of a voucher. If you refuse to provide us with the requested information or documentation, you will forfeit the voucher. 



16. To deliver the voucher-

16.1  Auto & General will make the necessary arrangements to duly inform and deliver digital voucher prize to the winner via SMS; and

16.2  the voucher will be sent to the cell phone number of the referrer; and

16.3  the voucher will contain a CVV code and a voucher number to be used at a Woolworths till point.

16.4 It may take up to 10 working days to receive your shopping voucher.

16.5 Your referred people may only be called within 5 working days or more.



17. You will be notified via an automated SMS in the event of a successful referral.



18.  All communication will be done through an automated SMS that will be sent to the contact number supplied by the referrer and should the SMS not be delivered due to technical difficulties or the referrer changing their cell phone number, Auto & General will not be held liable.



19.  You may not win a voucher if it is unlawful for Auto & General to supply such a voucher to you. If you do win such a voucher, you will forfeit it.

20.  If you fail to comply with any of the terms and conditions, then without prejudice to any other remedy which Auto & General may have, you will be automatically disqualified, and you will forfeit the voucher/s (in the event that you have already won a voucher).


21. Your entry into the campaign and/or your acceptance of a voucher (in the event that you win a voucher) constitutes your binding acceptance of the terms and conditions.

22.  If you use a mobile/cell phone for entry into the campaign, the telephone calls/text messages/data usage will be charged at the prevailing rates, which may vary from time to time. "Free" minutes under a cell-phone contract do not apply.

23.  It is your responsibility to ensure that your entry is received by Auto & General prior to the closure of the campaign. Any entries which are not received by Auto & General prior to the closure of the campaign will not be eligible to participate, regardless of the reason for the late entry. Auto & General and its affiliates are not responsible for any entries which are not received by Auto & General, whether timeously or at all, regardless of the cause thereof. Without limitation, Auto & General and its affiliates are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer hardware or software failure or malfunction, traffic congestion (whether physical, or on the Internet, telephone lines or at any service provider, website or other device or medium), or any combination thereof, or any other technical or other problems.

24.  Auto & General and our affiliates are not responsible for any injury or damage to your or any other person’s computer, mobile telephone or other device used by you to enter into, or obtain any materials related to, the campaign.

25.  It is your responsibility to ensure that any information which you provide to Auto & General is accurate, complete and up to date. Should any of the data provided by yourself in connection with this campaign prove to be invalid, inaccurate, and false or misleading, your entry shall be disregarded, and you shall be prohibited from entering any further Auto & General campaigns for a set period to be determined by Auto & General.

26. Auto & General does not make any representations or give any warranties, whether expressly or implicitly, as to a voucher, and in particular, but without limitation, make no representations and give no warranty that –

26.1  Your entry or participation in the campaign will necessarily result in you winning a voucher; or

26.2  a voucher, or any aspect thereof, will meet your, requirements, preferences, standards or expectations.

27.  Auto & General and our affiliates will not be responsible for any harm, damage, loss or claim relating to the provision of any element of a voucher or any changes to a voucher that may be made at any time.

28.  Vouchers are not transferrable and may not be deferred, changed or exchanged for any other item.

29.  Auto & General may invite you to be present when the voucher winners are determined or announced, to participate in any of our marketing activities, to appear in person in the electronic media and/or the print media, and/or to endorse, promote or advertise any of our goods or services, for which no fee, royalty or other compensation will be payable. You may decline such an invitation.

30.  Auto & General and our third-party suppliers, as the case may be, reserve the right to vary, postpone, suspend, or cancel the campaign and any vouchers, or any aspect thereof, without notice at any time, for any reason which we deem necessary. In the event of such variation, postponement, suspension or cancellation, you agree to waive any rights, interests and expectations that you may have in terms of this campaign and acknowledge that you will have no recourse against us, our affiliates and third-party suppliers.

31.  You agree that your participation in the campaign, and your acceptance and/or use of a voucher, or any aspect thereof, is at your own risk.

32.  Auto & General and our affiliates will not be responsible, and disclaim all liability, for any loss, liability, injury, expense or damage (whether direct, indirect, incidental, punitive or consequential) of any nature, whether arising from negligence or any other cause, which is suffered by your participation in the campaign or the acceptance and/or use by you, or your partner (if applicable), of any voucher, or by any action taken by us or any of our affiliates in accordance with the terms and conditions.

33. You, and in the event of your death, your family, dependents, heirs, assignees or any other beneficiaries of your estate, indemnify and hold us and our affiliates harmless against any claim by you, or your partner (if applicable), (whether direct, indirect, incidental, punitive or consequential) of any nature, whether arising from negligence or any other cause, relating to any injury, loss, liability, expense and/or damage which you may suffer, howsoever arising, in relation to your entry into this campaign and/or acceptance and/or use by you of a voucher.

34. You acknowledge that the acceptance and use of a voucher is subject to the proviso that-

34.1  All of the terms and conditions will apply to both you and your partner (if applicable), and you will ensure that your partner agrees to be bound and complies, and will continue to comply, therewith; and

34.2  you will take full responsibility for your partner; and

35.3  you indemnify and hold us and our affiliates harmless against any claim by your partner or any third party in the event that your partner suffers any loss or damage pursuant to your partner’s acceptance and/or use of a voucher.

36.  By entering this campaign, participants agree to receive marketing and/or promotional material from Auto & General and/or any of their associated or affiliated companies. No participant or winner of this campaign is in any way obliged to enter into a contract of insurance with Auto & General and/or a contract with any of their associated or affiliated companies.

37.  For purposes hereof, "affiliate" means Auto & General’s partners, co-promoters and sponsors of this campaign, our subsidiaries, our and their subsidiaries and respective holding companies, the subsidiaries of their holding companies, and our and their directors, officers, employees, agents and representatives.

38.  These terms and conditions will be construed, interpreted and enforced in accordance with the laws of contract and dispute resolution in the Republic of South Africa.

39.  Auto & General and the judges' decision on any matter concerning the campaign and/or arising out of these terms and conditions is final and binding on you, and no correspondence will be entered into.www.dmma.co.za

40. All individuals who send referrals must obtain the necessary consent from their family and friends prior to sharing their details with Auto & General Insurance. The referee must consent to their details being shared with Auto & General Insurance.
